Architects in Lechlade, Gloucestershire

Holmes Architects offer architectural design services to the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and North Wiltshire from the Lechlade studio.  The practice is managed by Matthew Holmes who has worked as an architect at Hudson Architecture Studio, and at Design Storey Architects in Oxford before forming Holmes Architects.  Prior to working in the Oxford area, Matthew worked as an architectural assistant at DJD Architects in Worcester where he worked on the conversion of a grade II listed former Victorian orphanage into student accommodation, and a home designed to the former NPPF (National Planning Policy Framework) Paragraph 79 clause (now Paragraph 84e) that allows planning for homes in isolated areas if they are of an exceptional design standard.

Matthew’s other key projects include 16-bed accommodation for the youth team of a premiership rugby club, and he has worked with alternative forms of construction such as a woodcrete, and a number of high-end extensions to homes in and around Oxfordshire.
 

In addition to his status as a chartered architect, Matthew is a Certified Passivhaus Designer with the Passive House Institute in Germany.  Passive House is the ‘gold standard’ for energy efficiency in buildings.  We ensure that every extension, conversion, or new build that we design can have excellent thermal performance and comfort that exceeds building regulations.
